Our Accomplishments
Established in 2004, the Greater North Penn Collaborative is proud of its accomplishments. These are some highlights:
- Organize 10 monthly membership meetings each year. Regular attendance includes 50-60 leaders of nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions, the faith community, and government; special meetings draw even more people.
- Act as a catalyst for collaborations that are currently benefitting our community
- Secured the leading-edge grants to fund a mobile dental health clinic in our region
Since January 2007 have provided dental care access to more than 1,000 individuals
- Began the dialogue in our Financial Stability Cabinet that grew into the North Penn Housing/Homelessness Providers Network Centralized Intake and Referral Pilot Project to be launched Fall 2009
- With North Penn United Way and other partners, the Financial Stability Cabinet ran a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in 2009 that brought $165,000 back to our community in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), tax refunds, etc. and completed 125 free tax returns. The 2010 target is 400 returns, with additional locations and services.
- The Children and Youth Cabinet created and implemented a Family Meal Campaign encouraging families to eat meals together around the table.
- The Cultural Diversity Cabinet partnered with Keystone Opportunity Center to add an ESL (English as a Second Language) Class.
- Hosted five Community Summits
- 2011 - Substance Abuse Summit - Planning is underway for the 2011 Community Summit. Check back soon for updates!
- 2010 - Meeting the Challenges of Elder Caregiving Summit featured Charles Puchta of Aging America Resources and attracted 150 community members
- 2009 - Protecting Our Children's Future: Uniting Our Community to Reduce Childhood Obesity Summit featured Cheryl Charles of the Child & Nature Network and attracted 200 community thought leaders
- 2008 – Leveraging the Power of Collaborative Partnerships Summit featured Leslie Crutchfield, co-author of Forces for Good - The Six Practices of Highly Effective Nonprofits and hosted 170 participants representing a broad range of community stakeholder groups
- 2007 – Cultural Inclusiveness Summit drew 194 registrants and spawned numerous project ideas to advance these efforts
- 2006 – Baby Boomer Summit drew 150 attendees. Participants gained awareness of how aging Boomers want to be “marketed to” and how they want to give back to their community
- Administered the North Penn Nonprofit Academy from 2004 through 2010. The Academy has provided more than 200 training hours to 300 nonprofit leaders in the greater North Penn region.
